Motorcycle projects, documented honestly.

MacMoto is a place to share the bikes I’m building, reviving, and figuring out along the way. From rough project bikes to cleaner rebuilds, the goal is simple: do honest work, document it clearly, and keep a record of the process.

1978 R100/7 Side Car

This rad 1978 BMW R100/7 sidecar rig kicked off my motorcycle wrenching journey. Getting it home was a 3,000 km adventure filled with roadside fixes, lessons learned, and the start of a growing obsession with bringing old bikes back to life. 🏍️🔧

About MacMoto

MacMoto is a small Saskatchewan-based motorcycle project site centered around revivals, repairs, and personal builds. Some bikes may eventually be sold, some may stay long-term, and some are just here because they’re too interesting to ignore.

The process

1) Find

Start with a worthy project.

2) Assess

See what’s really there.

3) Repair

Work through it honestly.

4) Share

Post the outcome as it really sits.

In Progress

Riley’s 1987 Yamaha Virago 1100 is another project that will be getting a much-needed refresh. The bike was last known to run—though not very well—about 10 years ago… at least that’s what Riley says. (Are you sure it wasn’t 20 years ago?) The plan is to go through the carbs, sort out the mechanicals, replace the fork seals, and generally bring everything back to a solid, reliable state so this classic V-twin cruiser can get back on the road where it belongs. 🏍️🔧

Planning

This 1979 Suzuki DR370—now known as the Yellow Bomber—has a bit of a story behind it. What started as a simple Kijiji find turned into a fun small-world moment when I later discovered the previous owner had documented the bike online years earlier. It’s a future project that will get cleaned up, improved, and brought back to life while keeping the character of this classic dual-sport. 🏍️
